The main idea of this magazine is to highlight those football teams whose performances were outstanding and those which did not show their best lacking of potential.
England, the football king dying on the go
Showed itself as a team without brightness, it was found nowhere near to fulfil fan’s expectations. Even though England counted with one of the best line-up able to trace all players one by one, the Germans, throughout an incredible score, placed it out of competition. Where was Rooney? His potential was the missing part of the team…. All goals he missed to score wearing England’s shirt will definitely be present while playing for Manchester, just give him time and see….
Italy, the champions were a shame
There is no one to blame, the Italian team was simply a bit “old”. The 2006 champions did not count with young blood, most of their players were around their 30’s , Milan, Juventus and la Roma young stars were not called to be part of the team. Italian young players came from small teams and therefore they were not prepared to assimilate the relevance and needs of such a gigantic competition. In general terms, the Italian team was not any good, their minimum to reach was the round before quarter – finals but it was eliminated during the first round…. There is nothing to say….
France, no inspiration but internal conflicts
France was the first national team on suffering the impact of being disqualified from the world cup due to the fact that it only made two points as a result of one defeat and two draws. Besides its extremely low playing level, the team revealed couple of internal conflicts, issues between players and management turned obvious, the expulsion of Nicolas Anelka, a key player, placed the team in a bad situation and the decision of stop training for a day as a consequences of the bad atmosphere resulted in a crap performance… What a loss of name…..
Argentina, dying in the hands of the Germans
Having the best forward line of the championship did not make any difference to the team, Argentina was simply disappointing, the team did not show the great potential of it. Maradona was seen not as a good coach because he did not know how to plan the matches; he just relied on the good reputation of his players without giving them rules to play. When Argentina was losing, motivation did not exist. The weakest point of the team was its defence line, players were not prepared to play “good football”, it is not only a matter of giving the bole to the forward line, but it is playing as a team, getting connected to everyone. Argentina paid for its mistakes by losing 4 nil against Germany and now the only thing to do is waiting for Brazil 2014….
Portugal, Did anyone see Cristiano Ronaldo around?
Portugal started as a team to pay attention to thanks to the presence of its greatest star Cristiano Ronaldo but at the end, it was a team that passed through the competition without relevance. Although it got to the round before quarter-finals, the Spanish team turned down Portuguese’s illusions of continuing in the world cup. The Portuguese team did not show an advanced level, everything was left in the feet of Ronaldo who did not score in any of the three matches played…. Nothing interesting ….
Uruguay, In God’s hands they made it through the semi-finals
The “charrua” team, as denominated in Spanish, after winning two worldwide titles, waited more than 40 years to find itself between the four better national teams of the world cup. In South Africa, owing to a very well organised team, its potential and a marvellous forward line lead by Luis Suarez and Diego Floran, Uruguay made it towards that aim. The team played in a astonishing way, players really showed passion for their country and they never felt inferior not even when facing the Dutch team. Uruguay definitely played full of stamina..… Such great results, a very well done to the “charrua” team….
Germany, young blood and experienced players showed to the world how to play beautiful football
The Germans were one of the national teams which better played during the whole competition. They scored and fans liked them. They proved that they are one of the greatest teams ever and players such as Ozil and Lahm were quite applauded while in action. They were energetic until facing the Spanish team which placed them out of the final.
Spain, the new champions are still in debt
Being the champions, it is worth saying that Spain is the best team nowadays. Their match against Switzerland was just an accident; after it, they fixed their problems and showed their real face. Although they won all their final games scoring the minimum difference (1-0), in all of them they were just superior. Villa and Casillas were their key players. Simply the Spaniards played nicely but they lack when trying to score….. Anyway, they are champions…..
Brazil, being the favourite is not everything
Brazil did not play as fans are used to see it. The team only played two acceptable games, to Ivory Coast and Chile, the rest of them are nothing to remember. Brazil had much more to show, nonetheless, it made it through the quarter finals where they lost to the Netherlands. The team was seen nervous thing that is not usual of the masters of football….. What is important now is to think about the next world cup which is believed to be a “samba” festival. Brazil 2014 is on its way…..
Holland, the “mechanic orange” has come back to live
The most balanced team. Holland: strong in defence, recursive in the middle and precise when attacking. Against all odds, the Dutch eliminated the five-time worldwide champion and got its classification to the final. In a very intense game, demonstrating its excellent condition, the team lost to Spain but succeeded on showing its incredible way of playing as a group. The mechanic orange is still alive and is able to show more…. More beautiful football….
Ghana, a great surprise…..
It was the revelation of the World Cup. It showed the best of Africa but its efforts were not enough. Ghana was eliminated in quarter-finals but will be remembered for showing a very serious way of playing….. A very well done to Ghana…. People want to see more….
THE STARS WITHOUT BRIGHTNESS
There are many players who arrived to South Africa with the illusions of being masterpieces, fans and commentators built of them an image of super-powerful with abilities of turning upside down scores just in seconds. Players such as Leo Messi and Wayne Rooney said bye bye to the competition without scoring; similarly, Cristiano Ronaldo left the World cup having scored only one goal….. Fans expected much more of these three stars….. What happened? No one knows….
